Turkey Free Trade Agreements Us

Despite the political conflicts, significant trade potential remains between the two countries, especially in the context of the US-China trade war, in which Washington is seeking new partners to prevent the global expansion of the Chinese economy. Recently, the high level of US taxation of Turkish steel and other products has had a negative impact on the volume of trade between the two countries due to political disputes. Seoul`s separate free trade agreements with Turkey (which entered into force in May), the United States (March 2012) and the EU (July 2011) are considered “twenty-first century agreements” that contain the most modern issues and provisions, thus providing a solid framework and a common denominator that can serve as a precedent for negotiations between the United States and Turkey.
